Notifications

Notifications keep you up to date on the state of your schedules and required actions.

On-Call Optimizer supports notification via email for all users, and can also be configured to notify via Slack when a connection has been established between On-Call Optimizer and a Slack workspace for an organization.

User Notification Preferences

  • All users begin with email as the default notification method.
  • Connecting a slack account will change the default notification method for the user to Slack.
  • Users can configure whether to receive notifications via email, Slack (when linked), or both methods simultaneously on a per-notification type basis.

Changing notification preferences

  1. Select My Profile from the drop-down menu behind the user icon in top-right corner of the application.
  2. Select Configure Notification Preferences from the Notifications section roughly half-way down the page.
  3. Select the desired state for each type of notification in the email and/or Slack columns as appropriate.
    • Slide the toggle button to the right to enable receive a notification type via a particular method.
    • Slide the toggle button to the left to disable notifications of a particular type via a particular method.
  4. Click Save preferences at the bottom of the panel.

The toggle buttons in the Slack column will only be active and able to be modified when the user has been successfully connected a Slack account to their On-Call Optimizer account.

Schedule Notification Preferences

  • Email notifications relating to a schedule are controlled by the individual preferences of each member or admin.
  • Schedules which have been linked to a Slack channel can configure which notifications are received in the channel using notification commands directed to the @On-Call Optimizer bot.
