Configuration Templates

Maintain multiple configurations and switch between them using templates.

On-Call Optimizer is moving to templated configuration, providing flexibility to switch between different schedule patterns or assignment preferences with one simple click while maintaining an explicit versioned record of what configuration was in effect for each assignment of shifts.

Concepts

Configuration Template

A configuration template is a named collection of configuration settings that are available to be used to generate future assignments for the schedule.

Active Template

One of the configuration templates associated with the schedule must always be marked active. The active configuration template is used for all automatic assignments generated by the schedule.

Configuration Version

Created during the assignment confirmation process, a configuration version represents a concrete read-only snapshot of the specific configuration settings that the template used to generate the assignment held at the time of confirmation.

Configuration versions are identified by a unique number, representing the confirmation order and are de-duplicated to avoid creating unnecessary versions - e.g. two consecutive assignments confirmed from the same (unchanged) template will result in a single configuration version associated to both assignments, not two.

Base Config

All new schedules are created with a single template which is active by default named Base config.

The base config can be freely edited (including renamed if desired), or deleted and replaced with custom templates of your choosing.
